An assessment of the first 20,000 words of a novel or biography. This is the recommended service for authors who have completed a manuscript and wants a professional analysis on the beginning of the completed work.

This critique addresses the suitability or potential of the novel or biography for publication and also alerts the author to problems found in the sample. Comments are pencilled on the manuscript to assist the writer. Advice is given on how to edit the manuscript to overcome problems, whether they are writing or presentation issues.
This allows the author to edit the full manuscript, thus addressing the problems. Usually this results in a ‘tighter’ manuscript with the word count reduced so as to become a more focussed and faster paced work, which holds the attention of the reader (acquisition editor/agent).

A discount ($50) is given against a further assessment of the completed manuscript of not less than 55,000 words if submitted within twelve months from the date of the Readers’ Report.

A4 white paper printed on one side of paper only,
Double or 1.5 line spacing with 2.5 cm margins12 point font, Times Roman preferred
All pages to be numbered
A title page (this page gives the title, genre & word count & author’s contact details).
Synopsis (a synopsis is two pages of a condensed version of the completed manuscript).
Covering letter and writer's bio (writing credit only, if any).
A SSAE of the correct size & postage to be included for return of manuscript and assessment.
