About  Jean D Briggs -  Author of fiction and non fiction. Poet, Literary Advisor & Consultant.

My experience is in over twenty years not only as an author (fiction, non-fiction & poetry), but in various genres of writing which include a couple of years of writing a column for a monthly country newspaper. Authored approximately seventeen titles including fiction, non fiction & poetry and won awards in various competitions (nationally & internationally).

Tutored in Professional Writing & Editing  and organized writers' festivals and workshops.  In 1995 I founded Wannabee Publishing (now Vignette Press) and was managing editor until 2006. My aim in founding Wannabee was to assist writers gain publication and this aim is still  my aim in in life - nothing really changes.

My life has always been associated with all things literary and nothing has changed - to use a cliché - a leopard cannot change its spots. I still endevour to assist the new and unpublished writer gain publication, but I believe it is getting more difficult - it has nothing to do with the author - but more to do with over abundance of manuscripts being generated at this time and the almighty dollar associated with publishing..

I am a full member of ASA (Australian Society of Authors), an author member of CAL (Copyright Agency Ltd) and a member of ACC (Australian Copyright Council) and struggle to keep informed of all the amendments etc., which are occurring. I am always happy to hear from authors (published and unpublished). Hang in there perseverance is all important.
